Get the Facts

DEVELOPING BRAIN

The rational part of the teenage brain--responsible for decision making and awareness of consequences-- is not finishing developing until age 25. Until then, using marijuana can have damaging effects on young people.

MENTAL HEALTH

Though many teens use marijuana to cope with stress and anxiety, the use of marijuana places teens are greater risk for depression, anxiety and other mental health illnesses.

SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA

Spice or K2 is dried plant material that has been sprayed with man made chemicals designed to act on the brain similarly to marijuana. Amount of type of chemicals vary, are unpredictable and can be dangerous.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

When marijuana is smoked, it can be as damaging as tobacco smoke. Often times, secondhand marijuana smoke contains more harmful chemicals than tobacco smoke.
